21 Day Fix EXTREME!! Its HERE!

Ahhhh!!!! SOOOOO excited! I’ve waited for this day since last Fall!! THE 21 DAY FIX EXTREME IS HERE!!!!! Summer bodies are made in winter– and I am ready!! Who is this program for??

However — if you have been working out and want and need a new, challenging workout program that will get you shredded in 21 days — this is it!! If you want ABS — this is it! If you have a few annoying lbs that won’t go away — this is your program!!


What equipment will I need?ย 

You will need a yoga mat (personal preference), also a light set of weights as as well as a heavier set (5 pounds and 8 pounds or 10 pounds). Some people prefer a fitness band instead of using weights.

Insanity Max 30 DAY 1 & 2

Yesterday was my very first day of Insanity Max 30!! It was awesome!! I am LOVING that these workouts are only 30 minutes! …….and they pack a punch!!

The first day is Cardio Challenge and it is just that — pure cardio!! Shaun T is killer and the cardio moves certainly cause you to sweat and push through!!! Ya gotta DIG DEEP as he would say!!!ย  I maxed out at 9:30 — -which will definitely give me something to work towards for next week! I started to yell at that time — haha — next week I will yell and PUSH THROUGH!!!

Maxing out is when you feel you need to stop and take a break to re-group! Shaun T will give you mini-water breaks along the way….BUT once I started to yell (haha) – I figured it was time to stop and MAX OUT! The great thing about this program is that you are ONLY in competition with YOURSELF!! You can see how much you improve each week, because it will take you longer to max out each time, because you are getting stronger! It is brilliant!! ๐Ÿ™‚


Today was Tabata Power and that was awesome too! It is interval-based — 20 sec on and 10 sec off!! So, I maxed out around 14 minutes. Just when you are at your limit with doing a cardio move, he switches it to a strength based move! Its awesome!! There are ab intervals at the end. I love the tricep work because as we all know ladies, we DO NOT want the bat wings!!! haha!!! The end is the toughest in my opinion because he has you doing POWER tricep dips and tuck jumps!! OOOOMMMMGGGG!!!!



The rest of the week will be great!!! I have never been so excited for a workout or to see results!! I LOVE that the workouts are only 30 minutes. I get up at 5:00 am and get it done before my little one wakes up. It sets my day off right and I feel amazinnnnnng!!!!

How I Lost My Baby Weight!


Pregnancy — while I LOVED being able to grow and PERSON and have that empowering feeling of knowing that YOU created this little baby — I did not like how it left me feeling, LONG after giving birth!!


I gained 35 pounds with my pregnancy

My daughter weighed close to 9 pounds at birth

I was left with 30 pounds to lose and NOTHING was working!!!!



Sixย  months after having my daughter (in March) I was STILL 30 pounds heavier. I was so happy to be a new mommy, but so discouraged that my jeans STILL were not fitting! I can remember crying in my doctors office because I wasn’t feeling like ME. I felt unattractive and SO frustrated that no matter what I was doing — nothing was budging!!ย  I only gained 45 lbs with my pregnancy and STILL had 30 to lose. I rarely got in any pics and this was one of the only ones that I have from that time.

For ME, when I looked in the mirror, I wasn’t happy. I was trying SO hard — getting up at 4:30 am to go to the gym, staying within my calories and I thought I was eating healthy! STILL — the scale would not budge and I couldn’t pull my jeans over my knees! I couldn’t fit into them or anything other than leggings (hello that’s what I wore my entire pregnancy) and I was beginning to think that I never would! I was SO happy to have my baby — I was never so HAPPY, yet I was also never so hopeless!!ย  I was frustrated, sad and wanted, so BADLY to feel and look like myself again! I can remember being in a class at the gym, 6 months after having my daughter, and seeing my reflection in the mirror while working out and I *hated* what I saw.

I needed something NEW and so I started a new approach — and found at-home workouts. It was SO much more convenient to to just press play after I rolled out of bed. I didn’t need to start the car, brush it off if there was snow. At the gym, I would have to wait in line for the class that I wanted and then have my little 12″ X 12″ space to workout and I am SOย  NOT a crowd-lover!!!! I needed something more and something different to help me SHED that weight!! I was SO determined and so desperate!!

I started with YouTube workouts and Jillian Michaels and started to research clean eating. I was eating packaged Fiber One bars, and 100 calorie packs while drinking Diet Pepsi — on the reg! Chemicals and crap won’t allow you to lose weight– who knew haha! I started to see some more changes and then was researching “top rated at-home fitness programs” because it was just SO MUCH easier to do at home than drive to the gym every day and drag the baby with me OR rearrange our family schedule to allow the time for me to go to the gym.

In my research, Beachbody programs kept popping up in my search. They promised both a comprehensive fitness program along with detailed nutrition plans! The reviews were amazing and everyone raved about TurboFire helping you to burn 9X’s more fat! Hey – that was all I needed to hear!! ha! I gave it a try and started with TurboFire and LOVED Chalene Johnson!! Since then, I have not looked back!! The weight began to melt off of me and by the beginning of May, I had muscleย  tone and my jeans were TOO big!!!!ย  I am forever a fan because it helped me get back to ME!!!



All you mommy’s out there who are struggling to get YOU back — I FEEL YOU! I have been there and I KNOW that feeling of just wanting YOU back! You CAN feel better and like you SHOULD feel!! I am in better shape now than I was before Gabby and I was a gym rat! These programs are NO JOKE — and mostly 30 min/day!! I would spend hours at the gym! NO more!! This mama is happy as ever and able to feel like ME again!!!!

Staying HEALTHY this Halloween

The day is HERE!! It’s Halloween!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  The endless candy bowls and bags of candy are surrounding you! The temptations are everywhere. IF you are on a fitness journey to get healthier and if you have GOALS you wish to achieve, then stick to your reasons for wanting to be BETTER, healthier, stronger or more fit! Those skinny jeans WILL fit IF you choose to stay on track! It is important to remember your WHY — WHY you chose to lose inches and pounds….WHY did you choose to start a new fitness journey…….WHY did you DECIDE to feel better? Ask yourself, “Would the extra candy be WORTH it?” Candy, yes, is delicious, I GET IT!! BUT — it also does nothing for you in terms of your GOALS!! I know that you have it within you to say NO to those Reeses PB cups!! IF you are already on a fitness journey, don’t RUIN all of your hard work with silly little candies!ย  Here is an example of how many exercises you would need to do in order to negate the candy you eat. I found this on-line and I think that it really helps to put things in perspective! ๐Ÿ˜‰




From now until the end of the year, temptations will be EVERYWHERE!! There will be cookies and cakes at the office, candy bowls in every doctor’s office and goodies on sale at every grocery store. Retailers will try to tempt you and market to your weaknesses. This is a time of year when people tend to use the holidays as an excuse to indulge a bit more, thus the holiday weight gain will ensue. DON’T BE A VICTIM!! ๐Ÿ™‚ THINK about what choices would be a *better* option for you. There are SO many clean eating options to choose instead. You will not only feel much better, you will not be sluggish, irritable or feel bloated. I realize the ONE piece of candy won’t have terrible effects on your overall health…..but who can stop at ONE?? I can’t, so that’s why I don’t even touch the stuff! Over time, however, sugar can have massive negative effects on your health. Cancer cells feed off of sugar! Sugar can also contribute to signs and symptoms of ((pre-mature)) aging ————> Um, no thank you! Here are some more things to be cognizant of, in terms of sugar consumption. Like I already mentioned, these results are over time, not just in one piece of candy. Sugars are in *many* foods — just be sure to read your nutrition labels if you aren’t already a clean eater. Be AWARE of what you’re putting in your body…..it WILL thank you later!




Sugar is the devil! The only thing it does well — is taste good!! Here are a few healthy & clean alternatives to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Also — if you are needing so HELPFUL TIPS on how to survive this candy-filled weekend……….here are some ideas:





1. STEEL CLEAR of the candy — -OUTTA SIGHT, OUTTA MIND!! I find that it’s less tempting if things aren’t around me! If you CAN — throw it out, ask your spouse to hide it or to put it in a place whereย  you can’t reach it!


2. If you are going to a Halloween party and you know the temptations will be EVERYWHERE, eat before you go and bring a healthy dish to share.


3. Drink WATER to help keep you full!


4. Create a healthy alternative like the ones above to fulfill your sweet tooth! — > Keep it clean!


5. If you don’t HAVE to buy the candy — then DON’T!! Retailers will discount the huge bags for you to buy because of the price! DON’T give in! Just walk on by! ๐Ÿ˜‰


6. If you are going to indulge — -then be sure to track it! Keeping tabs on your daily caloric intake will help you to be more cognizant of what it is that you eat. Myfitnesspall is a great app to help you do this.


7. MOVE! You can burn off the extra calories or if you already ARE on a fitness journey, don’t sabotage it by indulging in your child’s candy bag! ๐Ÿ˜‰ YOU ARE WORTH YOUR GOALS!!

21 Day Fix RESULTS !!

Well, the last three weeks went by pretty quickly! The first week of The Fix, was a lot of trial and error and figuring out what and how to eat in order to feel full and satisfied throughout the day. That is to be expected when you start something new. I made mistakes, tried new things and definitely have an entirely NEW perspective on HOW to eat to fuel my body and not just to “get by” because I am starving.

Over the past 10+ years, I was always one to exercise and “eat healthy”. For years, I would get up super early and drive to the gym for the early classes, drink my protein shake afterwards and then eat salads, chicken, fruit and veggies throughout the day. I have *never* had results like I have had from completing the 21 Day Fix — seriously! My jeans fit so much better, I can ((actually)) see definition and tone, and I have so much more energy. I don’t have that “tired, lethargic, feel like I’m dragging” feeling during these last three weeks. I am energized, NOT bloated and feel inspired to keep going, because I am actually seeing results!! It’s an amazing feeling to both wake up AND go to bed with a flat tummy.

The design behind this program is to eat a certain amount of protein, carbs and fats each day. You should eat 5-6 small meals each day and eat every 2-3 hours.In order to be successful with this plan, you need to plan ahead. Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but if you fail to plan…..then plan to fail! On Sundays, you should go to the grocery store, after deciding what your meals will consist of for the following week (i.e., Step 1). Take the time to prep your meals and plan ahead for the week. For example, I would buy ground turkey, chicken breasts, eggs, egg whites, turkey bacon and chicken sausage for my proteins. For healthy fats I would have all-natural peanut butter, almonds, avocado and EV coconut oil on hand. Fruits and veggies are super important as well as a little something that will help with any sweet tooth cravings. Shakeology is amazing at helping to curb sweet tooth cravings as well as raisins and honey. Don’t get me wrong, chocolate is allowed on the Fix, just in moderation. Wine is allowed too!! I chose not to have any only because I would rather eat my calories (or containers on this plan) and not drink them.

As far as meal planning goes, you can take the time on Sunday night to bake your chicken breast and ground turkey. You can then portion them out into containers (or tupperware) for the week ahead in order to have them ready to go. Portion out your veggies and fruits and put them in containers as well – if you know you will be pressed for time during the week. Shakeology is a nutrient-dense, all-natural, superfood-filled meal replacement shake that is PERFECT for your breakfast or lunch. Oftentimes, I will add a little unsweetened almond milk to mine and it gives it a creamier taste.

The workouts are only 30 minutes/day and vary from cardio to pilates to toning your upper or lower body, and yoga (I now love yoga)! It’s TOTALLY do-able! I increased my weights in the second week and felt the difference. I think that it helped me to see faster results in addition to ***challenging myself***!!! In order to change yourself — you need to step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. In order to see and have something that you have never done, you have to do something you have never done. I was doing the same exercise, the same diet – for years, and was expecting to see results! That was where I was wrong. I would change things here and there, and get impatient when I wasn’t seeing results fast enough. I now know, that it takes time, it takes dedication, persistence and consistency in order to see real changes.

My overall results were nothing drastic! I didn’t want to lose too much weight, just mostly wanted to tone and learn how to eat to fuel my body. I lost almost 3 inches and 1.4 pounds. I feel so much better and am excited for Round 2! This time I will be adding more workouts in to my schedule. I love Chalene Extreme and Body Pump, so I may add those in for building muscle. I also love some classes at the gym, and will probably do them too. This is an amazing program that I am now going to use as how I eat. This has been a lifestyle change for me and NOT a diet! It has taught me that you can, in fact, have too much of a good thing. I was definitely not eating the correct amount of carbs vs. fats vs. protein and now I know how to going forward.

The 21 Day Fix!! What’s All the Hype??

As you may have heard, seen or read, Beachbody has a brand new product called The 21 day Fix. What is it you ask, well….you have come to the right spot! I will be writing about my “journey” with The Fix (as I like to call it) –> highs, lows, common questions, and how to absolutely CRUSH the program and SEE results! The test group exhibited crazy results, in the short 21 days. This program is In such high demand that it sold out in ONE DAY!! This product sold so fast, that if you wanted to order it, you will have to wait to receive it until March! Craziness! ….BUT a good kinda crazy!
