Insanity Max 30 REVIEW

The holidays are just about OVER and everyone can now resume their regular schedules and routines! I don’t know about you — but I am a creature of habit and when my routines and schedules get changed, I feel a little uneasy! 😉 I am glad that this week will be back to normal and that I can finally have my routine back! The holidays were fun and I loved being able to see family and friends………..but I also love my own schedules! 😉

I am entering into week 3 of Insanity Max 30!! The first two weeks were a little difficult because 1. its a new program and I needed to adjust and 2.) the holiday temptations were EVERYWHERE!!! I did pretty well — I did have 2.5 glasses of vino on Christmas and did my best to stick to the eating plan. Let me tell you that it had a SERIOUS effect on my workout the following day!!! I was struggling!! I did it but it was rough. It just goes to show that diet and exercise go hand in hand!!!  I did eat clean and only had a few bites of hubby’s pie! I was pretty proud of myself haha!! Trust me — it could’ve been MUCH worse!! I just kept thinking — think about how you will feel tomorrow if you were to have an entire piece of pie! Also — I want to SEE results from this program and am DEDICATED to that and pie doesn’t necessarily fit into that mold! 😉

I have noticed that with each week, and with each workout — I get stronger!! It is such an awesome feeling!! I keep maxing out longer and longer and THAT in and of itself is progress to me — especially because I am NOT modifying!!! I will say — my stats have not changed one bit and I NOT letting that discourage me!!! My clothes are feeling looser and I am getting stronger with each workout and that is an AMAZING feeling!!

SO — now that the Holidays are OVER and the routine is pretty much back (after NYE I’ll be SET!!) — I am bound and determined to have results from this program!!! I will be posting my 30 day results in 2 weeks!! EEEEEEEKKK!!! Scary – lol! Every day I push play, and follow the nutrition, have my Shakeology and get my sleep — I am one day closer to the finish line! This is a 60 day program and it promises serious results! Six more weeks — that is IT!!! I have a feeling that it will fly by. Each day — you need to DIG DEEP and PUSH yourself. When you feel like you can’t do anymore, do three! When you TELL yourself you can — you are halfway there!!!

NUTRITION is 80% of your results!! You cannot outrun your fork!! I am so glad that the holiday temptations are OVER and I have literally thrown away the extra cookies and cakes so that they won’t speak to me in times of weakness!! lol Clean eating will allow you to have HUGE results!!! Clean foods like fresh fruits and veggies, along with lean proteins and whole grains will work WITH your body, give you sustaining energy and help you lose pounds and inches naturally. No more spray butters, low-fat or fat-free anything!! No more soda or sugary drinks — eat CLEAN and your body, mind and energy levels will be fulfilled!!!!

Here is a meal plan that I will follow for this week. It helps me to plan ahead and know what I will be eating so I am never caught without knowing what I will be eating! Fail to plan then plan to fail!!

Insanity Max 30 DAY 1 & 2

Yesterday was my very first day of Insanity Max 30!! It was awesome!! I am LOVING that these workouts are only 30 minutes! …….and they pack a punch!!

The first day is Cardio Challenge and it is just that — pure cardio!! Shaun T is killer and the cardio moves certainly cause you to sweat and push through!!! Ya gotta DIG DEEP as he would say!!!  I maxed out at 9:30 — -which will definitely give me something to work towards for next week! I started to yell at that time — haha — next week I will yell and PUSH THROUGH!!!

WHAT IS MAXING OUT????

Maxing out is when you feel you need to stop and take a break to re-group! Shaun T will give you mini-water breaks along the way….BUT once I started to yell (haha) – I figured it was time to stop and MAX OUT! The great thing about this program is that you are ONLY in competition with YOURSELF!! You can see how much you improve each week, because it will take you longer to max out each time, because you are getting stronger! It is brilliant!! 🙂

TABATA POWER

Today was Tabata Power and that was awesome too! It is interval-based — 20 sec on and 10 sec off!! So, I maxed out around 14 minutes. Just when you are at your limit with doing a cardio move, he switches it to a strength based move! Its awesome!! There are ab intervals at the end. I love the tricep work because as we all know ladies, we DO NOT want the bat wings!!! haha!!! The end is the toughest in my opinion because he has you doing POWER tricep dips and tuck jumps!! OOOOMMMMGGGG!!!!

The rest of the week will be great!!! I have never been so excited for a workout or to see results!! I LOVE that the workouts are only 30 minutes. I get up at 5:00 am and get it done before my little one wakes up. It sets my day off right and I feel amazinnnnnng!!!!

Chalean Extereme Burn Phase Week 1

Week One of ((ONLY)) Chalene Extreme — in the books!! I know that I had planned on following the CLX and PiYo hybrid that I created; but once I started to do the CLX workouts — I was addicted!! I decided then to just do that program and add in some 45-50 minute walks on the rest days. My clothes were feeling loser, my muscles were sore and I was LOVING how all of this was feeling! Each workout is between 22 – 46 minutes and you are working the entire time. The duration of the workouts are totally do-able for this busy mommy!! PLUS — I have felt stronger and lifting my 38 pound daughter has gotten easier!! I am not looking to lose weight, only to be challenged and to gain strength.

The program is comprised of three phases, beginning with the BURN Phase (which I am doing now):

BURN PHASE: KICK START YOUR METABOLISM (30 days)

This phase focuses on increasing your strength by beginning to lift weights that are reasonably heavy, but not heavy enough for you to not do 12 reps. This is the key to firing up your metabolism and leading to build muscle and burn fat!

Day 1: Burn Circuit 1
Day 2: Rest Day
Day 3: Burn Circuit 2
Day 4: Burn Intervals, Ab Burner
Day 5: Burn Circuit 3
Day 6: Burn It Off; Recharge
Day 7: Rest Day

A lot of people doing this workout use the first rest day to do some cardio, like myself.

Chalene has been quoted by saying that with this program, you can lose 60% of your body fat by the end of this particular program — and gain muscle, strength and flexibility!

Speaking of flexibility…..today was “Burn It Off” and “Recharge”. “Burn It Off” is cardio intervals, and is only about 26 minutes. The “Recharge” is around 20 minutes and is stretching, yoga and designed to improve your flexibility, stretch your muscles that have been working so hard and to increase oxygen to them. It felt SO good!!

Push Phase: PUUUUSH MUSCLES // MAXIMIZE MUSCLES (30 days)

This phase will force you to life **heavy** weights in order to push your muscles to the max! Fifteen plus pounds is suggested. Repetitions decrease from 12 to 8,

Day 1: Push Circuit 1
Day 2: Rest Day
Day 3: Push Circuit 2
Day 4: Burn Intervals; Ab Burner/Extreme Abs
Day 5: Push Circuit 3
Day 6: Burn It Off; Recharge
Day 7: Rest Day

Midway through this phase, Ab Burner is replaced by Extreme Abs.

Lean Phase: Tone It Up!

Strong movements, 12 reps, multiple muscle groups worked at one time. This phase allows you to get toned and lean!

The ChaLEAN Extreme workout plan looks like this:

Day 1: Lean Circuit 1
Day 2: Rest Day
Day 3: Lean Circuit 2
Day 4: Burn Intervals/Lean Intervals & Extreme Abs/I’ve Got Abs
Day 5: Lean Circuit 3
Day 6: Burn It Off/Fat Burn Challenge; Recharge
Day 7: Rest Day

I am offically OB-SESSED with this program!! I am loving the short workouts and how effective they are! I have been following the 21 Day Fix eating plan and feel amazing!! I am looking forward to finishing the program strong! 😉

PiYo — Chalene Johnson’s Newest Workout

EEEEEKKKK!!! Chalene Johnson — the mastermind behind TirboFire, Turbo Jam, Turbo Kick and also the author of Push, a New York Times best-seller has now created PiYo!

This workout will require NO equipment as it uses the weight of your own body as resistance. Chalene has created this workout series by fusing both Pilates and Yoga moves — and is made for EVERY fitness level! I have always been one to go “all out” with working out…..lifting weights, intense cardio and little to no stretching. Let me tell you — this is catching up to me! The more that I have incorporated stretching, yoga and pilates into my weekly workout routine, the more my body thanks me! Seriously — ever since completing the 21 Day Fix, which incorporates both yoga and pilates into the program, I fell in LOVE with just how good it feels to stretch, lengthen and tone my body without using weights or sweating through an intense, jumping and bouncing cardio sesh! Don’t get me wrong — I strongly believe in lifting weights and incorporating them into my workouts; PiYo is different in that it isn’t as taxing on your body and you are also lengthening and stretching as you work through the program and through each individual workout.

The PiYo Workouts:

With this program you will get NINE total workouts, each ranging from 25-45 minutes in length. This is wonderful for those with minimal time to spend working out — which is most people!

 

The Workouts that you will receive are:

  • Align (46 mins): The Fundamentals of PiYo
  • Upper Body (35 mins): this focused workout will strengthen, lengthen and stretch your entire body, while building on the movement patterns you have learned in Align.
  • Define: Lower Body (25 mins) will shape and tone everything from your quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves gently, yet effectively to help you get sleek and lean legs.
  • Sweat (35 mins) is a traditional PiYo Workout that is fast paced with body weight strength training and ab work!
  • Drench (45 mins) is a total body workout to get you sweaty, burn calories, and will leave your metabolism on fire! 🙂
  • Strength Intervals (25 mins) NO weights required and is designed to tone the whole body and burn tons of calories.
  • Sculpt (30 mins) NO weights are required for this intense, full-body workout!!
  • Core (30 mins) an ab-centric workout that targets every angle of the abdominal’s and back. From what I have heard — this is a serious calorie-burn!

WHO WANTS TO BE IN MY TEST GROUP?

This program will launch on June 23 to Beachbody customers. As a coach, you will receive 25% off of the purchase price of this program, as well as any other Beachbody program and/or product. MY test group for PiYo will begin on July 7. This will be a group of people looking for a CHANGE and a NEW, powerful workout program. They will commit themselves to this program and to getting themselves in the best shape that they possibly can.
