How I Lost My Baby Weight!

Pregnancy — while I LOVED being able to grow and PERSON and have that empowering feeling of knowing that YOU created this little baby — I did not like how it left me feeling, LONG after giving birth!!

 

I gained 35 pounds with my pregnancy

My daughter weighed close to 9 pounds at birth

I was left with 30 pounds to lose and NOTHING was working!!!!

 

 

Six  months after having my daughter (in March) I was STILL 30 pounds heavier. I was so happy to be a new mommy, but so discouraged that my jeans STILL were not fitting! I can remember crying in my doctors office because I wasn’t feeling like ME. I felt unattractive and SO frustrated that no matter what I was doing — nothing was budging!!  I only gained 45 lbs with my pregnancy and STILL had 30 to lose. I rarely got in any pics and this was one of the only ones that I have from that time.

For ME, when I looked in the mirror, I wasn’t happy. I was trying SO hard — getting up at 4:30 am to go to the gym, staying within my calories and I thought I was eating healthy! STILL — the scale would not budge and I couldn’t pull my jeans over my knees! I couldn’t fit into them or anything other than leggings (hello that’s what I wore my entire pregnancy) and I was beginning to think that I never would! I was SO happy to have my baby — I was never so HAPPY, yet I was also never so hopeless!!  I was frustrated, sad and wanted, so BADLY to feel and look like myself again! I can remember being in a class at the gym, 6 months after having my daughter, and seeing my reflection in the mirror while working out and I *hated* what I saw.

I needed something NEW and so I started a new approach — and found at-home workouts. It was SO much more convenient to to just press play after I rolled out of bed. I didn’t need to start the car, brush it off if there was snow. At the gym, I would have to wait in line for the class that I wanted and then have my little 12″ X 12″ space to workout and I am SO  NOT a crowd-lover!!!! I needed something more and something different to help me SHED that weight!! I was SO determined and so desperate!!

I started with YouTube workouts and Jillian Michaels and started to research clean eating. I was eating packaged Fiber One bars, and 100 calorie packs while drinking Diet Pepsi — on the reg! Chemicals and crap won’t allow you to lose weight– who knew haha! I started to see some more changes and then was researching “top rated at-home fitness programs” because it was just SO MUCH easier to do at home than drive to the gym every day and drag the baby with me OR rearrange our family schedule to allow the time for me to go to the gym.

In my research, Beachbody programs kept popping up in my search. They promised both a comprehensive fitness program along with detailed nutrition plans! The reviews were amazing and everyone raved about TurboFire helping you to burn 9X’s more fat! Hey – that was all I needed to hear!! ha! I gave it a try and started with TurboFire and LOVED Chalene Johnson!! Since then, I have not looked back!! The weight began to melt off of me and by the beginning of May, I had muscle  tone and my jeans were TOO big!!!!  I am forever a fan because it helped me get back to ME!!!

May Cause Miracles – Gabrielle Beirnstein

My team and I have developed a lil “Book Club” of sorts and we are reading Gabrielle Beirnstein’s, May Cause Miracles. I am loving this book!!! I am so drawn to her and to her work. Her YouTube channel is on in m house at least once a day & I LOVE her website! I am a very spiritual person, I have always believed in higher powers, in higher beings and in the power that we ALL have in creating our own destiny, our own happiness and our own miracles!

This book is divided into daily meditations. They are short and sweet but pack a punch!! They are SO powerful — IF you do the work! Today focused on having an attitude of gratitude. I think that this (miracle) mindset is SO important to have IF you want to see and feel change in your world.

There is so much to be thankful for if you just take the time to see it. Yes – there are probably MANY things in your life that aren’t going right. If you choose to focus your lens on those things, that’s all you’re going to see, and you will be inviting more of that in.

It’s easy to focus on the negative. FORCE yourself to look at what you DO have, and what your life has been blessed with. There is SO much! I had to focus on this after earning my **second** master’s degree! Not only did I have student loan debt but I am was not working ((outside of the home)) in a corporate job or in the field of education. I have an MBA as well as a MS in Elem. Edu! Yup — two degrees & all of the loans to match!

After I had my daughter, I was job searching and nothing was working out for me that made enough sense for me to go back to work, while having a new baby at home. There were opportunities that looked absolutely *perfect* and I had had connections at certain organizations, it looked like a “shoe-in” for a job. I thought that I would get a job FOR SURE!! All of the stars were aligning and it seemed PERFECT! I had thoughts – “Finally, this is all going to work out for me!”.

Guess what — it didn’t happen! I then had a choice — do I become bitter, upset, regretful that I have these two degrees under my belt and no job?? NOPE! If I had — my life would be miserable!!! INSTEAD – I KNEW, in my heart, that I don’t make the plans, GOD does! HE has something else in store for me. At the time — I had no clue what that was — but I trusted, I had faith and I KNEW that I would be okay because I put my faith in God and I was grateful for what I did have.

Needless to say, that is when this opportunity for Beachbody coaching entered my world. I thought that it was a TOTAL scam and that I would never make anything out of it, and that those people who did it were weird! haha!! My hubby literally laughed in my face when I told him about it!!

All I know is — I am on track to make MORE INCOME next year than I would as a teacher, I am the HAPPIEST that I have ever been in a “JOB”, I have freedom to choose when and where I work and I GET TO SPEND EVERYDAY WITH MY BABAAAYYY!!! I mean — is this real life??

I truly believe if you have an “attitude of gratitude” and TRUST that there is a higher power in control — not you — than GOOD, GOOD things will come your way!! Pass the test people!! It’s worth it!!! God will test your faith. He wants to know, that in those times, when things are NOT going “your way” that you STILL believe in Him and TRUST that HE KNOWS what is best for your life. Do you think that your Heavenly Father would wish negative things to occur in your life? Would you want that for YOUR child? NO! You are a child of God and He wants NOTHING but the best for YOU!

 

Stretch your FAITH and KNOW that even though things may not be happening the way that YOU want them to be happening — there is a GREATER PLAN for you. It is THERE waiting for you to see it — you just need focus your lens on the GOOD! XO

I can’t wait!! It looks killer — but I AM READY!!! BUT — it will not be easy — but if you want results in 30 min/day — THIS is your thang!The modifier does not bring LESS intensity or LESS of a workout — it simply takes the impact out of the moves. Max30 is BOTH cardio AND strength training!!! I love, love, love, Insanity and LOVE how I feel when I am doing that program. Shaun T created THIS program because he wanted to make Insanity BETTER. This is that program.  I have YET to complete it because I feel like I am always awaiting a new program to start and in the meantime, I will piece together ones that I LOVE — for example, Insanity and Les Mills PUMP. ONE DAY – I WILL complete Insanity from start to finish! 😉

 

WHAT IS MAXING OUT??

This is when you are “sprinting” and PUSHING so hard through the moves — GOING HARD — and when you reach the point when you need a break. You take the break that you need and then jump back in! Shaun T even MAXES OUT! You will try to BEAT YOUR TIME the following week in that same workout so you are ONLY in competition with YOURSELF!! LOVE that!! ……….and I LOVE that each week you will get stronger!

 

WHAT IS THE NUTRITION PLAN LIKE?

Sooooo………this program is awesome because it focuses on portion control. What you put in your body, will show up on your body! EAT CLEAN! This program focuses on whole, clean foods so that your body is properly nourished and will give you ENERGY to sustain these workouts.

You have a few options as far as how much food you eat each day. The program follows a plan similar to that of the 21 Day Fix. So , I am allowed a certain number of proteins, fats and carbs each day.

The ONE thing I LOVE about this is that, it guides you to select the proper foods if you are starving during the day. So you start by selecting a fruit, then a carb, then a protein….

There is ALSO a “No Time To Cook” guide for all of us who are caught in the lurch and need to grab something quick ((WHICH WE SHOULD ALL BE PLANNING AHEAD for this to not happen, but it happens!)) that outlines what to grab that will best suit your body. There is also a guide to tell you how to eat when you are out to dinner, etc

Shakeology — CLEAN Meal Replacement Shake

There are SO many protein shakes, weight-loss drinks, energy drinks and meal replacement shakes on the market today. It can be overwhelming to understand which is best for you and what the benefits are of each one. I get it — you want to be healthy, you want to make the right choice but also have a budget and also want to consume something that tastes good!! You ALSO need to consider WHAT it is that you are consuming!! SO many products on the market today are loaded with filler ingredients. —-> Soy lecithin: Commonly used in processed foods. Side effects may cause gastrointestinal issues, hormone issues, allergies, weight gain (can aid in weight loss however). It has a “gummy”, “sludgey” consistency. Again – ew.

—–> Heavy Metals: Arsenic and lead from “filler” ingredients (not from the protein source) that can lead to many negative side effects.
*This won’t be listed as an ingredient, but it is tough to know if it is in fact a part of what you are drinking. Many recovery drinks or protein shakes on the market do in fact have these as part of their ingredients.

Need I say more?? Just be cognizant of what it is that you are drinking. There are many options that are better for you and for your overall health & that will help you lose weight.

FIVE DAYS/WEEK :: 30 MIN/DAY

Insanity Max 30 is the ONE workout that will allow you to ONLY be in competition with YOUrself! Each workout is only 30 minutes long.  Each day you need to keep a record of when you “max out” — or, when you need to stop and take a break. The idea is that as you progress through the 60 day program, you will see how much stronger and how much more physically fit you become because you will condition yourself to go longer and longer without needing to take a break.  The goal is to beat YOUR time from the previous week. The moves are BOTH cardio AND strength and you will only use your OWN BODYWEIGHT as your equipment! This program is five days/week, 30 minutes/day. Shaun T STRESSES the importance of the 2 rest days. They are important for your body to rest and recover. Rest and recovery is JUST as important to your workout as putting in the hard work through all of the sweat and maybe some tears! haha…

This program will CERTAINLY require you to DIG DEEP as Shaun T likes to say….and I LOVE that it will be a challenge and ONLY 30 minutes/day! As a busy mommy – I can’t really afford to spend MORE than that amount of time with each workout – so this will be perfect!

Month 1:
Cardio Challenge:
The 1st workout and you use it as your guide and your first “fit test”.
It is all cardio-based & comprised of —  4 1/2 minute interval/30 second rest.
Sweat Intervals:
Cardio-type intervals that will make you drip with sweat and it is formatted much like the intervals in “Cardio Challenge”.
Tabata Power:
Think  – Plyometrics & core work!  Great ab block in this one too!!
Friday Fight:
A killer workout to end the week!!
Bonus —> Pulse workout for Saturday ((optional)). It’s more of a pulse, balance, modifier type workout that focuses on core, balance and form.
MONTH 2
Workouts are still 30 minutes.
New workouts —>
Max Out Cardio & Max Out Sweat these include —  5 1/2 minutes of power moves and then you take a break!
Tabata Workout- Max out Strength and Max Out Power
45 seconds on 15 second rest for 6 rounds, plus a lil something “extra” at the end!
