DIY Make-up Brush Cleaner

After college, I worked at a CHANEL make-up counter for a short time. It was fun and I learned a lot about make-up, skin care and the importance of keeping your make-up brushes CLEAN!! Because I work from home, I rarely put on make-up. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go out for a “night on the town” and of course — I was excited to be able to put on make-up!! 😉 Two days later — I had broken out and I know that it was because of my dirty brushes!! EW.

How to CLEAN your make-up brushed at home with simple ingredients that are in your kitchen!

What you will need:

**2/3 Cup of White Vinegar

**1 cup of warm water

**1 tbsp of Dawn or Palmolive dish soap

{{ OR — you can use 2 tbsp of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and 1 cup of water…..Mix until soapy}}

Mix the ingredients together until the mixture is soapy.

Put your brushes in the mixture and mix them around to loosen up the make-up.

Let them sit for 20 minutes.

Take them out and use an old washcloth to wipe the brushes clean. I rub the brushed thoroughly on the cloth until there is no more color coming off of them.

Then, lay the brushes out to dry on a clean towel. Once dry, store them away! 😉

As you can see, this “before and after” photo shows just how disgusting my brushes were! YUCK! It is best to wash them every few weeks; even sooner if you use them daily.
